About the Role
This is a 12-Month Fixed Term Opportunity
Job Location: 1Spring Street, Melbourne
The Water and Infrastructure Engineer plans and advises on water, drainage and civil infrastructure across new developments. They analyse flood risks, review designs and costs, and help shape practical, place-based plans. Working closely with Melbourne Water, councils and internal teams, they support coordinated decision-making and delivery. They influence planners, designers and stakeholders to ensure infrastructure is well-integrated and future-ready. Success means better planned communities, reduced flood risks, reliable infrastructure delivery, and stronger, evidence-based decisions that support sustainable growth.
What we’re looking for (Selection Criteria)
You’re someone who:
- Enjoys solving problems and thinking critically, using guidance where needed to find practical solutions.
- Can communicate clearly and confidently, presenting technical information in a simple, structured way to support decisions.
- Works well with others, sharing information, supporting teammates and collaborating across different groups.
- Adapts easily to changing priorities and is comfortable working with teams inside and outside the organisation.
- Has strong civil engineering skills, including reviewing designs, assessing technical work, and understanding infrastructure and cost estimates for roads, drainage and utilities.

Qualifications and experience
You’ll bring:
- A bachelor’s degree (or above) in Civil Engineering. (mandatory)
- Two years’ experience in municipal engineering or civil consulting services. (Desirable)
