SprayLine Road Services (SRS) is a commercialised branch within the Network Operations Division of the Department of Transport and Planning providing road maintenance services, construction and associated civil works, bituminous spray sealing and line marking to DTP, other state road authorities, municipal councils, and private industry. SRS delivers services locally within the communities and is committed to ensuring quality, innovative and sustainable outcomes. SRS performs a key role as an internal provider to DTP, providing emergency response, maintaining organisational capability and supporting DTP in being an informed purchaser.
About the Role
As a Road Worker - Maintenance at Ouyen Depot, you will undertake a variety of road maintenance and civil construction activities including network inspections and hazard and defect rectification works and perform manual labour-intensive tasks in accordance with established safety, environmental and quality procedures. After hours Emergency response capabilities and overtime are requirements of this role, and opportunities may be available to travel within the state to assist with broader Emergency responses.
Whilst this role is primarily based in the Loddon Malee Region at Ouyen Depot, you may be occasionally required to work from other locations across the state of Victoria based on the operational needs of the broader SRS business.
Position Accountabilities
The role involves carrying out a range of road, roadside and bridge maintenance activities under general supervision, including operating plant, installing traffic control devices, constructing and maintaining road furniture, and responding to emergencies. The position requires working safely, prioritising tasks effectively, collaborating within a team, and communicating clearly.
As part of the SRS Maintenance Delivery team, the role contributes to safe, inclusive and efficient operations, supports the timely and cost-effective delivery of spray sealing and line marking services, and models VPS values, positive behaviours and continuous improvement, including providing after-hours emergency response when required.

Key Selection Criteria
Success in this role requires practical experience delivering routine road, roadside and structure maintenance activities in line with traffic management plans, safety requirements, and established policies, with the ability to prioritise tasks where direction is limited. The ideal candidate applies sound judgement and problem-solving skills, seeks guidance appropriately, and maintains accurate records while working efficiently under time pressure. They contribute to continuous improvement, share knowledge within the team, and actively develop their own capability while upholding quality, safety and operational standards.
Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence
- Current Medium Rigid Truck Licence (Medium Rigid or higher)
- Current Construction Induction White Card
- Current Traffic Management Ticket
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Working knowledge of computer tablets / mobile devices
Desirable
- Certificate III in Civil Construction
- Understanding of Asset Maintenance Management Systems
- Chainsaw & Polesaw training
- Skid Steer training
Other Information
Reimbursement for living away and overtime are at or above award rates with SRS providing Bed and Breakfast (where available) in suitable accommodation when working more than 1 hour from the base depot.
