About the role

The Associate Director, Contract Risk & Assurance is a senior leadership role within the Contract Governance, Risk & Performance (CGRP) branch, reporting to the Director Contract Governance, Risk & Performance. The role serves as the Director’s key deputy and is responsible for coordinating the risk management and assurance oversight function across Transport Services’ strategic contracts, with an immediate focus on Public Transport.
Influencing stakeholders across multiple DTP Groups and Divisions, the role drives a consistent, high-quality approach to contract risk management by developing integrated risk and assurance frameworks, combined with risk reporting and analysis that give DTP executives clear visibility of risk and assurance activities across the Transport Services portfolio. The Associate Director plays a critical role in building risk management maturity and discipline across contract management teams, translating complex risk insights into actionable intelligence that supports better contract oversight and decision-making.

This role will lead the adoption of technologies to continuously improve the quality, visibility, efficiency and strategic value of risk management and assurance practices across Transport Services and ensure aligned integration with enterprise systems and practices. The role is expected to be a thought leader and change champion in this space, positioning Transport Services at the forefront of contract risk management.
The Associate Director is a respected senior leader within CGRP and provides day-to-day leadership across the team and mentoring to the Risk & Assurance team, fostering a high-performance, continuous improvement culture aligned with DTP’s vision and the Victorian Public Sector values.

  • Applies strategic thinking to identify, anticipate, and resolve complex contract risk challenges, developing sustainable solutions that strengthen risk management outcomes across Transport Services.
  • Builds strong relationships and influences senior stakeholders to implement effective risk management strategies and achieve consistent outcomes across the organisation.
  • Leverages digital innovation, AI-enabled tools, automation, and improved digital capabilities to enhance risk reporting, analysis, and assurance practices.
  • Develops future-focused risk frameworks and assurance strategies, translating strategic direction into practical plans aligned with DTP’s contract management objectives.
Qualifications and Experience 
  • Proven ability to engage, influence, and build credibility with senior executives and stakeholders to drive effective risk management practices.
  • Demonstrated experience managing risks within complex, multi-stakeholder environments and delivering improved risk outcomes.
  • Strong focus on continuous improvement, enhancing the quality and efficiency of processes, outputs, and team capability.
  • Experience in the public sector, particularly large-scale service delivery or strategic contracts, with knowledge of relevant risk and contract management frameworks.
