About the role
The Finance Business Partner provides financial advice and support across budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, performance monitoring, and project financial management. The role delivers accurate financial insights and ensures compliance with government financial policies to support informed decision-making and strong business performance.
Working closely with internal stakeholders, the role builds effective relationships, provides trusted financial guidance, and uses sound judgement to solve complex financial issues. It also improves financial processes and systems, supports implementation of the Department’s financial strategy, and ensures compliance with the Financial Management Act and other government requirements.

You’re someone who:
- Communicates clearly, builds trusted relationships and works collaboratively to deliver positive outcomes for clients and stakeholders.
- Uses critical thinking and sound commercial judgement to solve complex problems, improve processes and support informed decision-making.
- Partners with stakeholders to provide customer-focused financial advice that adds value, manages risk and supports business outcomes.
- Applies strong financial management skills to budgeting, forecasting, reporting and interpreting financial information to guide decisions.
- Uses financial systems and digital tools confidently to maintain accurate financial information, ensure compliance and support efficient service delivery.

Qualifications and experience
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline (desirable).
- A Finance or Accounting degree that meets the entry requirements for the CPA Program (desirable).
- CPA or CA membership (desirable).
Pre-employment checks and employment conditions
