About the Role
This role supports the accounting and reporting treatment of DTP assets. It involves accounting for leased assets, mainly Vic Fleet vehicle leases as the Departments has around 1000 vehicles through Vic Fleet finance lease arrangement. It also involves liaising with fleet team on vehicle arrangements and business partnering with regards to accounting for the assets and liabilities. It is responsible for the preparation of reconciliations and other general tasks to support the asset management process.

Position Outcomes /Accountabilities
• Support the accurate accounting treatment of DTP assets to ensure integrity of balances, liaising with relevant divisions in DTP to obtain information on asset attributes.
• Assist with the preparation and completion of accurate financial information for the DTP annual report, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and financial reporting requirements.
• Support the capitalisation, valuation and depreciation of DTP assets, the maintenance, reconciliation and analysis of asset records and the reconciliation, analysis and reporting of related financial information.
Key Selection Criteria
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of contemporary accounting standards and practices and their application in an accounting function, Victorian Government accounting pronouncements, guidelines and financial reporting directions
• Experience in supporting the valuation of classes of different assets, including identification and
substantiation of inventory changes and develop detailed reconciliations prior to valuations.
• Demonstrated ability to apply skills to complete a range of work in progress related accounting functions, including capitalisation of completed capital works in consultation with business areas, analysis of post capitalisation and other cost components subject to special accounting treatment.
