About the role 
The role provides traffic and transport engineering expertise to assess and respond to externally funded project applications across Metro Melbourne. This includes complex signalised intersections and road upgrades, ensuring proposals meet relevant standards, safety requirements, corporate guidelines and industry best practice.

Key responsibilities include advising consultants and stakeholders, reviewing traffic and access solutions, interpreting SIDRA reports and road safety audits, solving engineering issues, and negotiating successful outcomes. The role also supports government traffic and transport objectives, collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, and ensures project reviews are completed efficiently while maintaining a safe and functional arterial road network.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant or civil/traffic engineering discipline (mandatory), with knowledge of traffic modelling and planning functions and processes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with effective customer service and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities and deliver work effectively. 

 

Pre-employment checks and employment conditions
