About the role
This is a fixed term position until 31 July 2029
The Senior ITS Surveillance Lead provides statewide expert leadership and technical assurance for Intelligent Transport Systems assets, ensuring compliance with departmental standards, legislation, and contracts. The role leads risk-based surveillance, audits, and non-conformance resolution, while guiding staff capability and consistency. It also supports design assurance, collaborates with stakeholders, and helps deliver safe, high-quality transport infrastructure outcomes.
The role ensures ITS works comply with technical standards, legislation, and contracts through risk-based surveillance, audits, and site inspections. It provides expert advice on construction and design assurance, supports project delivery tracking, and evaluates contractor claims. It investigates non-conformances, drives corrective actions, and collaborates with stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery outcomes.
What we’re looking for (Selection Criteria)
You’re someone who:
- Strong expertise in quality assurance, audit, and surveillance, including compliance frameworks, documentation, and environmental/heritage considerations.
- Advanced technical assurance capability, including designing monitoring processes, managing risk, and ensuring compliance with technical and functional requirements.
- Ability to review and assess design documentation and drawings to ensure alignment with technical standards and constructability requirements.
- Proven experience in Intelligent Transport Systems, including fault diagnosis, field asset surveying, and ensuring safety and performance compliance.
- Collaborative and adaptable approach, working effectively across teams, responding to changing priorities, and supporting shared outcomes.

Qualifications and experience
You’ll bring:
- Mandatory experience in electrical and/or civil construction, with a strong understanding of design review processes.
- Proven stakeholder and client management skills, including effective communication and relationship management.
- Desirable trade qualification and experience implementing registration and accountability systems.
