About the role
This is an ongoing role
The role provides project assurance across road and bridge works, applying professional judgement to ensure outcomes meet scope, quality, cost, time, safety and environmental requirements. It supports the effective performance of the road network through close collaboration with internal technical teams and clear communication with road contractors. The role is primarily based across metropolitan Melbourne, with occasional regional site visits.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong professional judgement, resilience and adaptability, with the ability to provide clear, confident advice and respond constructively to challenge in a dynamic environment. They will work collaboratively across teams and stakeholders, applying outcomes-focused thinking to connect day-to-day work with broader organisational and community impact. The role requires experience in independently undertaking project and technical assurance activities, applying sound technical knowledge to verify requirements, manage risk and support effective project delivery.

Position accountabilities
- Continuously assure work is being executed in accordance with the requirements of Specifications, technical standards, codes of practice and legislation.
- Provide timely advice and record progress of works including against schedule, budget, resources plan and supports the evaluation of contractor claims.
- Provide advice on construction practices, safe execution of works, and innovative responses to complex construction and traffic management
- Deliver on risk-based surveillance plans and undertake surveillance and audits in accordance with that plan.
- will actively engage with key stakeholders and the community, as required.
- In line with Section 31A of the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic) other duties may be assigned consistent with employment classification, skills, and capabilities.
Qualifications and experience
Mandatory
- Experience in civil construction or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management of customer / client interactions.
Desirable
- Possession or undergoing relevant certification in civil construction like NTRO Bridge Inspection Level 1 & 2.
- A relevant trade background
