About the role
This is an Ongoing fulltime position
The Senior Officer, Materials Surveillance checks and audits construction materials used in roads and bridges to ensure they meet required standards. They plan and coordinate inspection activities, review testing data, and identify quality issues, working closely with the Team Leader and suppliers. The role supports and guides team members, contributes to training, and helps improve processes and documentation. By building strong relationships and providing clear, objective feedback, success in this role ensures safe, compliant materials, better project outcomes, and higher quality infrastructure.

Qualifications and experience
Desirable
Demonstratable experience in one or more of the following:
- NATA Technical Assessor, or equivalent industry level of competence
- Asphalt manufacture, placement or technical support
- Construction material technical support, testing or manufacturing (e.g. soils and aggregates)
- Road construction related quality auditing and quality assurance management
- Road construction management or supervision
- Concrete production, placement, pre-casting or technical support
- Steel and steel reinforcing fabrication
- Driver’s licence
- May involve night or weekend work, including occasional overnight travel
Pre-employment checks and employment conditions
Relevant pre-employment screening and reference checks will be required.
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa necessary for the nature of the position.
