About the Role
This position is responsible for facilitating vehicle safety and resolving complex technical matters in relation to vehicle standards and compliance to the requirements for registration. The role is also required to assist in the management and administration of authorised partners delivering vehicle safety products and services as a third party provider on behalf of the Department of Transport and Planning.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities
· Provide professional technical advice to customers, partners and stakeholders to support current vehicle safety and certification schemes.
· Use independent professional technical judgement to recommend eligibility of scheme applicants, partners and continually monitor, educate and investigate as required for the ongoing requirements of the vehicle safety and certification schemes.
· Initiates and maintains relationships with stakeholders to understand and resolve stakeholder issues, identify malpractice and fraudulent activity and recommend opportunities for business improvement
· Identify and research emerging automotive industry trends and vehicle technologies to propose recommendations for the development and implementation of vehicle safety related policy.
· Use technical knowledge and experience to independently conduct investigations (which at times will include surveillance, monitoring and field work) and identify non-compliance to scheme requirements and prepare accurate briefs and statements to advanced professional level and when appropriate participate in prosecutions or give evidence under general functional supervision.
· Prepare and conduct accurate training and instructional material for vehicle safety subject matter to be published and distributed through various mediums and educate and inform customers, partners and stakeholders.
· In line with Section 31A of the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic) other duties may be assigned consistent with employment classification, skills, and capabilities
Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will apply expert technical knowledge and sound understanding of vehicle safety, certification schemes, and relevant legislation to provide accurate guidance and resolve complex issues independently. They will exercise professional judgement in preparing evidence-based briefs and managing workloads to meet service standards and legal requirements. Additionally, they will demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement skills, effectively negotiating with partners to ensure compliance and drive positive business outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
· Appropriate mechanical qualification and experience relevant to the requirements of the role.
Desirable
· Customer service experience in a fast-paced professional environment
· A personable customer-facing manner and strong written and verbal skills
