About the role

The Senior Workplace Services and Contracts Officer supports key projects and improvements while ensuring government spending delivers value for money. The role also contributes to better systems and processes by researching and developing relevant policies, strategies and initiatives.

Position accountabilities
The Department of Transport and Planning is seeking a motivated Senior Workplace Services and Contracts Officer to support key projects and contribute to high-quality workplace and contract management services. In this role, you will provide technical advice on cost-effective solutions, exercise sound judgement in purchasing and supplier engagement, and help ensure outsourced functions operate effectively and within agreed service levels. You will play a key role in strengthening partnerships with stakeholders and suppliers while supporting ongoing improvements to systems, processes and service delivery across the Department. This includes contributing to policy development, strategy work and initiatives that drive best-practice standards.


To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong collaboration skills and an ability to build positive relationships across internal and external stakeholder groups. You will bring an applied commitment to continuous improvement, using feedback, data and industry insights to identify opportunities for innovation and better outcomes. A foundation in project delivery, including managing priorities and maintaining accurate records, is essential, as is the ability to apply sound commercial judgement and hold vendors accountable for agreed performance. Strong interpersonal skills are required to understand the needs of diverse audiences and tailor communication appropriately. You will also be comfortable working within commercial frameworks, analysing industry trends and applying this knowledge to inform decision-making.


This role suits someone proactive, adaptable and solution-focused, who thrives in a collaborative environment and is confident navigating competing priorities. Experience in government or a similar context is desirable.
