About the role 
This role uses expertise in road access, transport planning and traffic engineering to assess planning permit applications, subdivision referrals and enquiries that may impact the arterial road and public transport networks. The role provides timely written responses and advice in line with statutory requirements under the Planning and Environment Act 1987 and Subdivision Act 1988.

The position works closely with councils, developers, consultants and internal stakeholders, providing clear planning and traffic advice, gathering specialist input and influencing outcomes. It also supports statutory processes, including VCAT submissions and planning panels, while maintaining accurate records, reporting and performance measures to ensure services are delivered efficiently and within required timeframes.

You’re someone who: 

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing professional advice and responding effectively to enquiries.
  • Communicates clearly and confidently, producing concise written correspondence and tailoring messages to a range of audiences.
  • Applies sound judgement, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess complex information and make informed recommendations.
  • Plans and organises work effectively, managing competing priorities and meeting statutory timeframes and business objectives.
  • Collaborates positively with colleagues, sharing knowledge and contributing to a supportive, high-performing team environment.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant or related discipline (mandatory).
  • Experience in statutory planning, transport planning, traffic engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of the Victorian planning system and statutory referral processes, along with a valid Victorian Driver’s Licence. 

 

 

Pre-employment checks and employment conditions
