About the role
This is a fixed term VPS 5 position till 2 April 2027
You will lead a team responsible for resolving complex payroll enquiries across the department, ensuring employees are paid correctly and matters are managed with fairness and professionalism. This is a fast-paced role where you will take accountability for complex payroll resolutions from start to finish, exercising sound judgement and technical expertise.
You will partner closely with business leaders and HR teams, providing trusted advice on pay, leave and entitlements. Success in this role strengthens customer service excellence, builds employee trust, reduces payroll risk and improves the consistency and quality of payroll practices across the organisation.
What we’re looking for
You’re someone who can;
- Lead and coordinate a responsive, reliable and customer-focused payroll resolutions service, ensuring enquiries and issues are managed accurately, fairly and within agreed timeframes.
- Provide trusted, practical and timely advice to employees, managers and stakeholders on payroll, leave and entitlement matters, helping them navigate complex situations with confidence.
- Review, improve and strengthen payroll processes, controls and guidance materials to improve service quality, reduce risk and support compliance with enterprise agreements, policy and legislation.
- Analyse data and identify trends to resolve issues at the root cause, improve ways of working and support informed decision making.
- Build strong working relationships across Payroll, People & Culture and business areas to support consistent, high-quality service delivery.

Qualifications and experience
You’ll bring:
- Experience interpreting enterprise agreements and managing complex payroll matters.
- Ideally prior experience working with SAP SuccessFactors or other HR Platforms
- Strong Excel skills to support payroll analysis and reporting

Relevant pre-employment screening and reference checks will be required.
