About the role 

This is an ongoing role - Location: Melbourne CBD 

The Workplace Relations Advisor provides sound advice and support on complex employee and industrial relations matters. This includes managing cases involving performance, conduct, probation and all Reviews of Actions, while ensuring compliance with legislation, government policies and industrial agreements.

The role is the Grievance Registrar for the Department and builds strong relationships with People & Culture, managers, employees, senior executives and unions. It provides timely advice, manages employee relations cases, supports organisational change and restructures, and assists with reporting and administration. Other duties may be assigned in line with the role’s classification, skills and capabilities.
 

What we’re looking for (Selection Criteria) 

You’re someone who: 

  • Has workplace relations and HR expertise, including performance management and enterprise agreement interpretation.
  • Applies sound judgement to employee matters, legislation, policies and industrial requirements.
  • Understands the VPS Review of Actions policy and the process.
  • Remains calm and professional when managing sensitive issues and competing priorities.
  • Communicates and negotiates effectively with leaders, employees and key stakeholders.
  • Works collaboratively, adapt to changing priorities and identify opportunities to improve processes and business outcomes.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field is desirable.
  • Experience in Workplace Relations and the Victorian Public Service is desirable.

 

Pre-employment checks and employment conditions
