Network Design and Integration is a Group within the Department of Transport and Planning, and is responsible for the delivery of transport priorities through the development and delivery of an integrated pipeline of projects and support Victoria’s Big Build to ensure an integrated network.

We’re focused on outcomes that deliver more choice, connections and confidence in our travel, ensuring the whole transport network works as one to deliver better services and outcomes.

 

About the Role

This is a 3 year Fixed Term Position

 

We’re seeking a Project Manager to lead the oversight of major transport initiatives that help shape the future of Victoria’s integrated transport network. As the key interface between delivery agencies and DTP, you’ll drive coordination, manage risks, and ensure successful delivery of strategic outcomes that support the state's economic and social growth.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities

 

  • Provide strategic oversight of Big Build initiatives through agile, effective project management
  • Act as DTP’s liaison with delivery agencies, ensuring timely communication and expert engagement
  • Guide teams through complex challenges and drive resolution of project interface issues
  • Deliver high-level advice on governance and planning throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure project alignment with DTP service objectives and benefits realisation

 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to influence and negotiate across diverse stakeholders to support complex transport projects. They will have exceptional problem-solving skills and the strategic thinking required to deliver innovative, long-term solutions within a public sector context. Experience in project delivery and governance is critical, along with the capability to co-create outcomes through collaborative partnerships. Success in this role requires adaptability, the ability to navigate complexity, and a clear understanding of transport policy, planning and project integration.

 

On a personal level, the candidate will be a confident communicator, capable of building trusted relationships across technical and non-technical teams. They will approach challenges with a constructive mindset, demonstrate resilience under pressure, and support a positive team culture through coaching, collaboration, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

 

Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory

 

  • A tertiary qualification in engineering, project management, planning, or a related field.
