The  Network Design and Integration group delivers transport priorities through the planning, development and maintenance of an integrated pipeline of projects and strategic initiatives that provide safe, efficient and sustainable outcomes to all Victorians.

About the role 

This is an Ongoing Full Time Role.  

In this role, you’ll use independent professional judgement to plan, procure and monitor road and bridge works, applying technical expertise, risk management and analysis to ensure projects meet scope, quality, cost, time and safety requirements. Achieving success in this role depends on building strong stakeholder relationships and collaborating effectively with internal teams, councils, and other government partners to deliver high-quality project outcomes.

Position accountabilities 

This role involves using professional judgement to plan, procure, deliver and monitor road and bridge projects while ensuring they meet scope, quality, cost, time, safety and environmental requirements. It requires analysing project performance, applying technical expertise to manage contracts, and proactively identifying and mitigating risks to improve outcomes. The position also relies on strong stakeholder relationships and effective communication across internal teams, councils and government partners, alongside undertaking other duties aligned with the role’s classification. 

-Exercise independent professional judgement to plan, procure, implement and monitor road and bridge works to achieve project scope, quality, cost, time, safety and environmental requirements in accordance with relevant policies and toolkits. 

-Undertake research and analysis to prepare, monitor and report on the physical and financial status of projects, and develop innovative responses to improve project outcomes and project processes. 

-Exercise independent professional judgement to anticipate and assess potential project risks, undertake/coordinate complex risk assessments and develop necessary mitigation plans.  

Qualifications and experience 

Mandatory 

  • Engineering, project management, or similar, tertiary qualification 

  • Driver’s License (without any restriction which preclude the incumbent from performing the inherent requirements of the position and which cannot be reasonably accommodated by the Department)   

Desirable 

  • 5+ years of construction and/or project management experience  

  • Experience in liaising with contractors/clients
