About the Role

Job Location: Sunshine, Melbourne

Peform surveillance and assurance activities on routine and planned maintenance works under the Victorian Road Maintenance Contract (VRMC) to ensure contractors deliver safe, high quality maintenance services in accordance with required regulation and standards.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities 

  • Conduct surveillance activities to ensure works comply with regulatory requirements and VRMC Standards.
  • Perform surveillance and assurance tasks on maintenance works to achieve network safety and quality outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, applying a collaborative approach in all interactions.
  • Foster team culture through knowledge sharing, continuous learning, feedback, and communication. Support team development by sharing expertise in routine maintenance and surveillance activities.
  • Ensure consistent surveillance and inspection practices across contract areas. Apply sound judgment to review maintenance treatments within defined standards and relevant policies.

 

Key Selection Criteria

The DTP is seeking a motivated and collaborative professional with knowledge or experience in network surveillance, routine maintenance monitoring, and quality assurance for road and roadside assets. The successful candidate will apply regulatory OH&S, traffic management, and environmental requirements while using asset maintenance systems and tools to support effective service delivery. They will work closely with teams and stakeholders and demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and continuously improve maintenance assurance practices.

 

Qualifications and experience

  • Experience in road maintenance or civil construction.
  • Technical skill in a wide range of areas including standards, specifications, Road Management Act requirements, traffic management and safety.
  • Competency using system-based applications on a tablet or similar.
  • Experience in field inspection or quality assurance activities.

 

Other position-specific requirements

  • Driver’s license

All new appointments to the department will be subject to a National Criminal Records Check, Misconduct Screening, and a Qualification Check where there is a requirement for a mandatory qualification.
