About the role 

This is a Fixed Term Position until 14 May 2027

Job Location: Melbourne CBD, Traralgon or Leongatha, Eastern Victoria
 The Planner supports the Minister for Planning’s statutory responsibilities and helps deliver key Victorian Government planning priorities and projects. Working within the Gippsland region, the role assesses planning permit applications, planning scheme amendments, and other statutory planning matters, providing high-quality advice and recommendations to support informed decision-making.

The role prepares planning assessments, reports and correspondence, manages approvals and projects, and provides timely advice to government, local councils and other stakeholders. It also contributes planning expertise to major projects, builds strong stakeholder relationships, and works collaboratively to deliver planning outcomes while supporting an inclusive, positive and culturally safe workplace.

  • Communicates clearly and confidently, including when handling complex, sensitive, or challenging matters.
  • Adapts quickly to changing priorities and works collaboratively across teams to support successful outcomes.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

  • A qualification in planning or a related field (mandatory).
  • Knowledge of government land use planning policies, strategies, and relevant legislation.
  • Experience in statutory and strategic land use planning, with an understanding of regional planning and regional development issues. 

 

Pre-employment checks and employment conditions
