About the role
The Senior Planner will be responsible for preparing planning scheme amendments work and related briefs and providing recommendations to department executives and the Minister for Planning. It requires a motivated individual with demonstrated experience in statutory planning, project delivery, stakeholder management and governance in the public or private sectors.

Position accountabilities
This role provides authoritative advice and high-quality reports to the Minister and executive team on significant regional planning issues, while ensuring risks are effectively managed and emerging matters addressed. It requires strong stakeholder engagement to influence complex and sensitive issues, as well as collaboration across the business to deliver priorities. Success also relies on fostering a positive, knowledge-sharing culture and practicing cultural safety to create inclusive and respectful environments.
Qualifications and experience
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Planning, or a related field, is required (mandatory).
- Demonstrated experience in delivering complex land use planning projects is required (mandatory).

Pre-employment checks and employment conditions
All new appointments to the department will be subject to a National Criminal Records Check, Misconduct Screening, and a Qualification Check where there is a requirement for a mandatory qualification.
