About the Role
The Adviser, Cabinet Information has a crucial role in ensuring continuous alignment of Cabinet-in-Confidence (CiC) policy and procedure with Executive Government and statutory requirements. You will have an exciting opportunity to demonstrate your stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills and gain a valuable understanding of DPC’s role as a central agency and government accountability requirements.

You will use your excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with stakeholders from across departments, Ministerial offices, the Victorian Auditor General’s Office (VAGO), and the Public Records Office of Victoria (PROV). You will handle requests and provide guidance and advice on access and provision of CIC documentation, coordinate annual transfer of CIC records to PROV and Caretaker requirements in election years. Strong attention to detail and professional integrity are required to work with complex and highly confidential documents.

The successful applicant will have a thorough understanding of government processes and the ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships within the department and across the public service. 


Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships and provide advice across DPC and the wider Victorian Public Service (VPS) on protocols, procedures and document control.
  • Work with stakeholders to triage, clarify and manage the intake of requests, demonstrating strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills to address issues without escalation.
  • Contribute to request prioritisation, execution, communication, and reporting within and outside the team to ensure awareness and the efficient and timely provision of services.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in responding to CiC information requests. This includes correctly following processes to retrieve electronic and hard copy documents and ensuring accordance with relevant legislation and protocols.
  • Lead others to maintain a high standard of record completeness and accuracy and contribute to verification, auditing, and archival processes to the Public Record Office Victoria.
  • Support the development and implementation of education and training initiatives to enhance capability and foster improvement across DPC and the VPS.
  • Work with stakeholders to execute DPC and VPS Cabinet Information Caretaker requirements.
  • Lead and contribute to activities that enable continuous improvement of the team’s and broader Cabinet Office culture, systems, processes, and performance. This may include leading and contributing to projects and supporting other teams as required.
