The Social Policy Group

The Social Policy Group (SPG) brings together social policy and program delivery expertise, alongside coordination of the State’s management of the Multicultural Affairs portfolio. SPG advises the Premier and Cabinet on the education, justice, health, families, fairness and housing, and community, security and emergency management portfolios, and supports the Minister for Multicultural Affairs in overseeing the portfolio.

The Multicultural Affairs Branch

Multicultural Affairs works in partnership with Victoria’s diverse communities and brings together policy and program functions that support the Victorian Government’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, engaged and harmonious multicultural society. The Division comprises two branches: Programs and Partnerships, and Policy. The Office of the Victorian Multicultural Commission is funded through the portfolio and works closely with Multicultural Affairs.

 

About the role

The Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) is seeking a talented VPS4 Grants Program Officer to join the Multicultural Affairs branch.

As a Grants Program Officer, you will play a key role in supporting all stages of grants delivery for the flagship Multicultural Festivals and Events (MFE) program and the Multicultural Capacity Building Program (MCBP). To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement skills, a passion for systems, process and program improvement, and the ability to work flexibly across competing priorities. Experience with grants management systems (such as Grants360) and Victorian Government briefing and correspondence processes will be highly regarded.

The successful candidate will demonstrate sound grants management, analytical and problem-solving skills to support program delivery. The role also requires strong communication, stakeholder engagement and project management capabilities, including the ability to prepare high-quality briefs and written advice.

To support business needs and team culture, the successful applicant will be required to attend the office three days per week.

We are seeking applicants who have demonstrated experience from the following criteria:

  1. Strategic planning: Contributes to organisational strategic planning, developing and implementing business plans consistent with operational frameworks, and developing new areas of practice and innovative strategies while focusing on the achievement of long-term goals.
  2. Technical: Focus this KSC on a specific technical knowledge skill or experience that is required for the role. It ensures that applicants possess the necessary expertise to perform job-specific tasks effectively i.e. Deep understanding of the financial management act.
  3. Project management: Demonstrated capacity to lead a range of complex projects through partnerships with people across policy and business areas, functions and departments, including those of a whole- government nature, and deliver timely and high-quality outcomes. 
  4. Relationship building: Proven influencing, negotiation and relationship-management skills in an environment requiring highly developed interpersonal skills, and a proven capacity for highly effective communication with a range of government and non-government stakeholders.
