About the Role
An exciting and unique opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the Cabinet and Governance Branch in the Public Administration Group as the Manager of the Public Sector Workforce team at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
As a Manager in the Cabinet and Governance Branch, you will operate in a fast-paced policy environment, collaborating with a skilled and supportive team and stakeholders across government. To succeed in this role, you will have strong policy analysis and team management skills, and a good understanding of public sector governance and workforce matters, and public administration. Ideally, you will have a sound understanding and demonstrated experience in public administration, public policy, governance or law. In addition, you will have excellent negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead a team of policy advisers, including workload allocation and supervision of staff as required and contribute to the improvement of staff capability, performance, cohesion and engagement.
- Provide thorough analysis and expert advice to the Premier, the Secretary and senior officers on a wide range of policy issues and major initiatives relating to public sector workforce policy development.
- Manage and lead complex strategic projects and analyses relating to the coordination and implementation of government policy, and prepare timely and accurate briefings, correspondence and other products.
- Manage and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders within and beyond DPC, providing clear and useful advice and accurately representing the department’s views.
- Actively contribute to a positive and collaborative organisational culture, supportive of learning and development, innovation and continuous improvement in a dynamic environment.
- Other duties as directed that are not listed in the position description, but which are consistent with a position of this grade and skills requirement.
This is a Fixed Term position available until February 2027. This position is only open to applicants with relevant rights to work in Australia.
