About the Role
An exciting and unique opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the Cabinet and Governance Branch in the Public Administration Group as the Manager of the newly formed Public Sector Reform Implementation team at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
As a Manager in the Cabinet and Governance Branch, you will work in a fast-paced and dynamic policy environment, in a small team among supportive and engaged peers, and across the broader Victorian Public Sector.
In this role, you will also support and liaise with other areas of DPC, DTF and the VPSC in ensuring a coordinated, centralised approach to public sector administration reforms. The role requires working closely with other managers in Cabinet and Governance Branch to support coordinated and timely advice to the Premier, Secretary, DPC and the Victorian Secretaries Board on key recommendations and to embed best practice policy guidance in the VPS.
Key Accountabilities

- Lead and manage a small team of policy advisers, including workload allocation, supervision and professional development of staff as required and contribute to the improvement of staff effectiveness.
- Provide authoritative, timely advice and effective support to the Premier, the Secretary, DPC and senior officials in relation to policy issues and major policy initiatives relating to public service reform implementation. For Official Use Only 2 Position Description – 3. 4. 5. 6.
- Initiate, lead and contribute to policy development relating to the improvement of public administration and public sector management in Victoria.
- Build and maintain respectful and collaborative relationships with stakeholders across DPC, the VPS and other jurisdictions within Australia including providing influential, practical advice and advocating for the Department’s or Government’s position as needed.
- Contribute to the leadership, positive culture and continuous improvement of Cabinet and Governance Branch.
- Undertake other tasks relevant to Cabinet and Governance Branch’s role and responsibilities, including team and branch/corporate development and projects.
This role is a Fixed Term position available for a period of 12 month. This position is only open to applicants with relevant rights to work in Australia.
