The Energy, Resources and Environment Branch of the Department of Premier and Cabinet is recruiting for a highly motivated manager to lead the Energy and Resources team. Our branch advises the Premier on a broad range of policy initiatives and major projects, and this role is an excellent opportunity to work in centre of the Victorian Government in a high profile and challenging portfolio.
The successful applicant will manage a team of policy advisers in a fast-moving environment, and play an important leadership role in the branch, contributing to strategic planning and branch culture. The position requires the flexibility to respond to rapid changes in priority, strong management and planning skills to deliver a varied work agenda, and excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with stakeholders and senior officials across the Victorian Government.

About you
As our ideal candidate you will have:
- Extensive experience in developing policy and strategy in a public sector and/or industry environment combined with a broad understanding of the mechanisms and processes of government.
- Highly developed people management skills, aligns team with the organisational values and goals through effective people management, coaching and modelling.
- Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, provide advice on processes and policies, and work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication (oral and written), analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills with sound judgment and capacity to make decisions and recommendations where diverse interests need to be considered.
- Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with the ability to meet deadlines while working in pressured situations.
Desirable requirements
- A relevant tertiary qualification would be an advantage
- Understanding and experience in the energy and resources sectors in Victoria
