The Economic Development and International Branch
The Economic Development and International Branch provides advice to the Premier and Cabinet on a range of international engagement, economic development, jobs and employment, investment attraction, innovation, small business, regional development, tourism and major events, sport and recreation and creative industries issues.
Teams across the branch play a key role in providing advice on the policy and other outputs of the portfolios supported by the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions.
The branch also provides whole of government coordination for the Victorian Government’s international engagement priorities and activities and supports the international travel of the Premier, Deputy Premier, and the Governor.
About the role
This role is a Fixed Term, Full-Time position until 3 May 2028.
Working within the International team, in the Economic Development and International Branch, you will work closely with colleagues across the Victorian and Commonwealth public services and with other external stakeholders, to support delivery of Victoria’s international engagement efforts.
You will contribute to or lead a range of high-profile international engagement policy areas in a fast paced and collaborative environment. The position requires flexibility to respond to rapid change, strong policy and planning capability to deliver a varied work agenda.
We are seeking candidates who will contribute to a high performing culture, deliver successful outcomes, develop capability within the team and be a leader within the branch.
About You
We are seeking applicants who have demonstrated experience from the following criteria:
- Experience in assisting to develop and deliver priority policy and projects in a public sector and/or industry environment.
- Ability to prepare briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language, ensures that appropriate style and formats are used and demonstrating attention to detail.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with people at all levels and from different backgrounds and organisations.
- Planning and organisational skills, including ability to identify processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal; and uses systems and procedures to plan work and monitor progress.
- Commitment to continuous development including through seeking feedback and opportunity to develop new skills.
Desirable requirements
- Knowledge and skills relevant to either international engagement, international relations, protocol or trade and investment.
- Specific knowledge of one or more key international markets.
- A relevant tertiary qualification would be an advantage.
