The Economic Development and International Branch
The Economic Development and International Branch provide advice to the Premier on a range of international engagement, economic development, skills and TAFE, jobs and employment, investment attraction, innovation, regional development, tourism and major events, sport and recreation and creative industries issues.
Teams across the branch play a key role in providing advice on the policy and other outputs of the portfolios supported by the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions.
The branch also provides whole of government coordination for the Victorian Government’s international engagement priorities and activities and supports the international travel of the Premier and Governor of Victoria.
About the Role
The Economic Development and International Branch is seeking a talented and dynamic Policy Adviser. The position will support the development of high-quality policy advice across a range of economic issues.
In this role you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of economic policy issues across government and will build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders. Your work will contribute to advice for the Premier, Secretary and senior DPC executives.
To be considered for this role, you should have strong conceptual and analytical skills and the ability to provide high quality advice in a time-pressured environment. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with other DPC policy areas and other government departments.
About You
We are seeking applicants who have demonstrated experience from the following criteria:
- Demonstrated experience providing authoritative, high quality and timely advice on public and economic policy in a dynamic and complex environment.
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills, including demonstrated ability to apply multi-disciplinary analysis, quickly assimilate new concepts and information, and identify innovative solutions to complex policy issues.
- Well-developed interpersonal, representational and communication skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and to influence and negotiate effectively.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to influence decisions through the preparation of timely and evidence-informed recommendations.
- Demonstrated commitment to a positive team culture and ability to support others to achieve common goals, self-starting and proactive.
