About the Branch

The Delivery and Strategy Branch tracks and supports delivery of priority government initiatives and works with policy branches to support strategic policy development of cross-portfolio issues. 

The branch comprises the following teams:

Delivery Tracking, which monitors implementation of government priority initiatives and commitments, and supports identification and resolution of risks and blockages;

Strategy, a project-based team that works closely with DPC policy branches and delivery agencies, employing consulting and strategy approaches to resolve priority policy and delivery issues, as commissioned by DPC senior executives or the Premier.

About the Role

This is a Fixed term, full-time position until 30 June 2027.

The Delivery Policy Officer plays a key role in supporting the Delivery and Strategy Branch to monitor, assess and resolve delivery challenges on priority government initiatives. Working within the Delivery Tracking team, the role contributes to identifying implementation risks, analysing performance information, and preparing high-quality advice for senior executives, the Premier and Cabinet Committees.

The position works closely with colleagues across DPC and other departments to ensure timely, accurate and solution focused insights that support effective government decision-making. The role requires strong analytical capabilities, excellent communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

About You

We are seeking applicants who have demonstrated experience from the following criteria: (insert from the PD)

  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills, initiative and a ‘can do’ approach to identifying issues and providing strategic advice on policy and program development and/or delivery.
  • Sound knowledge of the processes, policies and procedures within government and understanding of public sector accountability. Experience co-ordinating advice across government and / or central agencies is valued
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to confidently and concisely convey complex ideas, data and other information in a clear and engaging manner in briefs, submissions, reports, graphs and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Strong time and task management skills, focusing on outcomes and delivering within available resources and timelines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with people at all levels and from different backgrounds and organisations.

Mandatory requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in a relevant discipline.
