Principal Advisor – VPS6 – Ongoing / Full time (Flexible/Hybrid – 2 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne)

What you’ll do

In this role, you will provide high-level strategic advice and coordination support to the Commissioner, working across the Victorian Public Sector Commission’s Executive Management Board and the broader Commission to drive strategic alignment, effective governance and consistent practice. You will provide timely and considered advice on complex and emerging issues, coordinate divisional and whole-of-Commission priorities, and lead priority projects and organisational reform.

Working closely with the Commissioner and VPSC leadership team, you will connect strategy, planning, performance and regulatory priorities to ensure key initiatives are coordinated and progressed effectively. You will also support executive governance through the coordination of Commission papers, briefings, correspondence and secretariat functions for key committees.

Who we’re looking for

This role is well suited to an experienced strategic adviser who can quickly understand complex issues, provide clear and considered advice, and coordinate high-priority work across multiple stakeholders. We are looking for someone with demonstrated experience providing strategic advice and coordination support to senior executives, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships across an organisation.

You will bring strong planning and organisational skills, sound judgement and the ability to work confidently with sensitive and competing priorities. An understanding of Victorian public sector governance, accountability and regulatory frameworks will be highly valued, as will experience working in the Victorian Public Service or a regulatory environment.
