The Delivery and Strategy Branch

The Delivery and Strategy Branch tracks and supports delivery of priority government initiatives and works with policy branches to support strategic policy development of cross-portfolio issues. 

The branch comprises the following teams:

  • Delivery Tracking, which monitors implementation of government priority initiatives and commitments, and supports identification and resolution of risks and blockages.
  • Strategy, a project-based team that works closely with DPC policy branches and delivery agencies, employing consulting and strategy approaches to resolve priority policy and delivery issues, as commissioned by DPC senior executives or the Premier.

 

About the role

The Delivery and Strategy Branch is seeking to recruit an effective, talented and passionate individual to the position of Senior Data Analyst in the Strategy team. The Delivery and Strategy Branch reports to the Secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet and works across government to quickly analyse and identify solutions to priority policy and delivery issues. The Strategy team works on high priority projects on a range of policy and operational topics.

In this role you will support the Branch to deliver projects including through analysis, policy advice, project management, and stakeholder consultation. Your work will contribute to advice to the Premier, the Secretary and senior DPC executives.

You will have the opportunity to work on a breadth of policy and delivery issues across government, while building and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with stakeholders. This role requires a proactive self-starter with a blend of advanced data analytics/developer skills, passion for public policy, a good understanding of government, and an ability to work in a complex, sensitive and fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will hit the ground running quickly to deliver on government priorities, demonstrate strong quantitative, policy, strategic thinking and communication skills, and work effectively in a team environment.

This is a Fixed term, full-time position until 30/06/2027.

 

About you 

As our ideal candidate you will have: 

  • Advanced data analytics capability and problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience to convert complex policy problems into key data and evidence-based insights to influence and shape development of policies and programs.  
  • Excellent data visualisation skills and experience leading the development of clear, compelling visual outputs (dashboards, charts) that effectively communicate insights to senior stakeholders and non-technical audiences.
  • Product development experience in the Microsoft Environment, deploying solutions within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem (e.g., SharePoint, PowerApps, Power Automate, Microsoft Lists) with the ability to translate business requirements into functional, user-friendly digital tools and workflows.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confidently conveying complex ideas, data and information in a clear, concise, plain English and engaging manner in briefs, submissions, reports, graphs and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Project management skills, with experience leading workstreams/deliverables including identifying and addressing emerging risks and blockers proactively and effectively.

Mandatory requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in a relevant discipline.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools and software, such as Excel, R, Python, or similar.
  • Familiarity with developing solutions in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
