The Strategic Communications, Engagement and Protocol Division/Branch within the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) is seeking a talented and passionate individual committed to provide specialist communication, engagement, and protocol support and advice to the departments, premier’s private office and portfolio ministers. We centralise and lead campaign delivery, coordinate government-wide efforts, and set best practice standards within the VPS.
About the role
This role provides specialist administrative and corporate support for the executive leadership and operation of the Strategic Communications, Engagement and Protocol division, including drafting reports and recommendations, preparing briefs and correspondence, finance, governance and performance reports and managing inquiries. The role will also undertake project work under limited direction to support the division Executives to deliver key priorities.
This is a Fixed term, full-time position until 30 April 2027.
About you
As our ideal candidate you will have:
- Digital and Technological Literacy: Demonstrated experience providing confidential administrative and business support to executives or leadership teams, with strong initiative and the ability to work under pressure with limited supervision. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), SharePoint, Teams, electronic records management, finance and procurement systems, and calendar management.
- Interpersonal Skills: Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships, provide advice on processes and policies, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to achieve shared goals and manage risks. Communicates clearly and confidently at all organisational levels, including in sensitive situations.
- Written Communication: Sound verbal and written communication skills, including a strong writing ability with an eye for detail, including the ability to perform quality assurance on all products prepared by the Division. Proven ability in developing high-quality reports, systems and process guides and communication materials using clear, concise and grammatically correct language.
- Flexibility and adaptability: Demonstrated ability in working at pace in a high-pressure environment, with a willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities. Clearly and confidently distinguishes between more and less critical activities to operate accordingly and deliver on outcomes.
Mandatory requirements
- Demonstrated experience in the use of the Microsoft Office suite including MS Word and Excel, Sharepoint, Teams.
- Demonstrated experience in processing invoices, managing finance budgets, reviewing financial reports and procurement documents.
