The Economic Policy and State Productivity Group
The Economic Policy and State Productivity group works to support better economic awareness for Victoria by supporting the government to achieve its objectives related to economic development, regional and local government outcomes, international engagement, transport infrastructure, planning, priority precincts, energy, agriculture, resources and the environment. The group works in a whole of government environment by collaborating with relevant departments and agencies on policy and project development.
About the Role
Working within the Economic Development and International Branch in DPC, you will work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to support the delivery of priorities in and oversight of economic development portfolios and international engagement activities.
As a Senior Policy Adviser, you will work in a fast paced and collaborative environment, helping lead responses to complex policy problems and engaging across government to contribute the policy design and strategic advice to strengthen and grow the Victorian economy, and more broadly, to drive Victoria’s economic development agenda.
The role will provide analysis and advice to the Premier and senior DPC executives in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment. The work includes leading the review and assessment of complex cabinet submissions, policy proposals, funding requests and appointments, and the preparation of high-quality written advice and briefings on these issues. The position requires flexibility to respond quickly to rapid change, a collaborative work style, and strong policy and planning capability to deliver a varied work agenda.

About You
We are seeking applicants who have demonstrated experience from the following criteria:
- Demonstrated experience in developing government policy, strategy or project delivery, combined with a broad understanding of the processes of government and levers available at a state government level.
- Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with the ability to meet deadlines while working in pressured situations.
- Highly developed analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills with sound judgement and capacity to make informed recommendations and decisions.
- Demonstrated commitment to a positive team and branch culture, with a proactive attitude and ability to support others to deliver common goals.
