The Essential Services Commission is Victoria’s independent economic regulator of essential services supplied by a range of industries. The commission’s functions include:
- making regulatory decisions with respect to prescribed industries (including price determinations, licensing, customer protection and access disputes).
- undertaking reviews and providing advice to Ministers on a range of economic and regulatory matters.
- administering the Victorian Energy Upgrades program.
About the role
The enforcement team investigates regulatory breaches and takes enforcement action, including the effective use of litigation. The primary responsibility of the investigator role is to conduct investigations and gather evidence to inform regulatory decisions with a strong focus on improving outcomes for consumers.
The role requires strong writing, negotiation and problem-solving capabilities with an outcomes and delivery focused approach. The role requires stakeholder management skills to liaise with other members of the Energy Division and our external retail energy businesses, consumer groups and industry groups.
This is a fixed term position for two years. The work location for this position is 570 Bourke Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
Key accountabilities
In this role, you will:
- Conduct investigations into potential regulatory breaches.
- Contribute to the development and updating of relevant policies and procedures.
- Gather and review evidence. Research, analyse and interpret information to inform briefings and decisions.
- Prepare clear, factual case notes, correspondence and internal reports for senior review.
