- making regulatory decisions with respect to prescribed industries (including price determinations, licensing, customer protection and access disputes).
- undertaking reviews and providing advice to Ministers on a range of economic and regulatory matters.
- administering the Victorian Energy Upgrades program.
About the role
The Senior Regulatory Compliance Officer will play a key role in Victoria’s water customer service framework including the protection of customers experiencing vulnerability. It is responsible for monitoring and reporting on water businesses compliance with relevant water rules and gathering evidence to inform decisions about regulatory compliance action.
The role is part of a multidisciplinary team and will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to proactively identify and share emerging regulatory compliance issues, develop proposals on appropriate regulatory responses, and develop resources that support improved outcomes for customers.
This role provides the opportunity to deploy your excellent communication skills, work collaboratively across the organisation, and contribute to outcomes that support fair, reliable and accessible essential services for Victorian consumers.
This is a fixed term position until 30 June 2029. The work location for this position is 570 Bourke Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
Key accountabilities
- Triage regulatory breaches, initiate investigations and identify appropriate compliance and enforcement pathways consistent with the commission’s Compliance and Enforcement Policy.
- Gather and review evidence, analyse and interpret complex information, prepare and deliver written and verbal briefs that support decision making.
- Work with water businesses to remediate non-compliance and promote compliance.
- Undertake analysis of compliance outcomes and sector behaviour to propose areas of proactive engaging and capability building within the sector.
- Steward the internal compliance reporting processes and respond to and resolve issues for external and internal stakeholders.
